Interesting Gyaos design. It's got the wretchedness of the 90's design, with the bizarre profile of the original. The vampire-ness is really highlighted.
Barugon's my favorite part though. It's both anatomically realistic and manages to be just as dazed and derpy looking as the movie's prop. He doesn't look too much like a lizard, nor too much like an alligator, but as his own creature.
The frozen city behind with the aurora above are really telling as well. Vintage Gamera; going through hell to save the day.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE! You're all making this and my Ultraman piece among the most popular in my Gallery! Its surpassed some of my Godzilla covers in fav's! Hopefully I'll get to do another Gamera piece in the future.
Well, for one thing, the Gyaos have always struck me as indiscriminate opportunists when it comes to their little feeding frenzies...Barugon's most likely just another item on their menu. For another, this particular Gamera rendition seems to be derived from the '99 version, which was a rugged terrapin indeed. Long odds, to be sure, but once Gams finishes snapping the would-be Frigidaire mascot's neck, I'd give him 7-outta-10 odds against the Blood Bats.
Anyway. Imaginative background, nifty foreground spray, clever updates of the Friend to All Children's rogues gallery. Too well done.
First words from me when I saw this was wow. I mean.....eeesh. This is really good. I mean the color, the shading. Even the background is spectacular with the aurora going on. This is really freaking awesome. You did a wonderful job.
This is freakin' awesome, love the depiction of Barugon, it's a great update! But with everything else like the frozen city and the Gyaos firing their sonic beams at Gamera, it's a fantastic picture overall!
